What materials can you cut and engrave
We can cut or engrave laser grade plywood, natural wood and paper materials. As a company who cares about sustainability and healthy environments we use wood materials that are accredited by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) to ensure that they come from FSC certified forests; we use laser grade plywoods which are certified low/no VOC and do not contain formaldehyde; we choose not to cut MDF and acrylics.
What is the maximum thickness you can cut
The maximum thickness we can cut is 6mm but we can engrave designs on thicker materials.
How big is your laser cutter
Our largest laser cutter has a cutting and engraving bed of 1200mm x 900mm, larger than A1 size. It may also be possible to cut larger designs in several different sections.
How much will it cost
The cost is dependent on how long it takes to cut or engrave which can vary considerably depending on the material and intricacy of the design. As a general rule laser cutting is a quicker process than laser engraving. Costs of products are per website/ product page. What are VOCs
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are toxic airborne chemicals, some of which may have short and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors due to their use in household products such as paints, lacquers, varnishes and furniture. The best way to minimise VOC levels is to increase ventilation by opening windows and doors, use lower temperatures when heating an indoor environment, use products that are low or no VOC, and allow products to"off gas" for a few days before installation. As a company we use woods that are certified as low or no VOC and finishing products (i.e.wood stains and varnishes) that are certified as no VOC. As an added precaution we also "off gas" our products before delivery to our customers and clients.
What is your waste management policy
The laser process is very efficient and produces minimum waste. The materials we choose to use are recyclable and biodegradable. Wood waste from our manufacturing process is converted into garden compost and mulch.
